He was actually favored over Curlin when he lost the Jockey Club Gold Cup 3 weeks before BC Classic to Curlin in October at Belmont. So here we have the 3 yr old beating the more mature very good 4 yr old in peak form. Lawyer Ron was legit. It's easy to look good pulling away from at best allowance horses, as BB did in the Preakness. He wouldn't have done that against Street Sense or Hard Spun. Then it's off to the Japan Cup. If he does in fact try these, it will be mean he will skip the BC Classic. But the reward for being successful would be worth it. It would go down as one of the greatest feats ever in racing history, as well as totally smash Cigar's money won record.
